Award Winning Design for North Carolina's

Leader in Behavioral Healthcare for Children

NOVEMBER 1, 2004 - Alexander Youth Network has received an American Graphic Design Award for their 1 IN 5 Brochure designed by David Tisdale in spring of 2004. The award is given out annually by Graphic Design USA magazine.

The goal of the 1 IN 5 Brochure is to communicate that 1 in every 5 children suffer a mental illness growing up and that Alexander is there to help. The design concept was developed around the agency's service array and their efforts to provide complete wraparound services to youth across North Carolina.

The primary visual focus of the design is a series of photographs that show a diagram of Alexander's services literally wrapping around the children. Produced by extensive work in Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark Xpress the Brochure effectively achieves its goal. Walker Printing Company in Charlotte worked closely with Tisdale to print the 12 page, silver-toned brochure.

Prior to becoming Creative Director at Stafford.Tisdale, David Tisdale was a full-time employee at Alexander where he developed the agency's corporate identity standards, designed all marketing materials, and worked closely with the Resource Development team to advance fundraising efforts. Alexander has continued the relationship through Stafford.Tisdale.

Alexander Youth Network is North Carolina’s leading provider of children’s behavioral healthcare. The agency provides a comprehensive array of services developed to treat children with, or at risk for, serious emotional disturbance. Their services include outpatient therapy, psychiatric residential treatment, foster care, community-based services, a shelter for children in crisis, and mentoring for children involved with the juvenile justice system. Alexander serves more than 1,000 children each year from nearly three quarters of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
