Environmental Problems and Design Solutions

MAY 26, 2004 - As the summer months approach and the air pollution rises with the humid heat of BankTown, North Carolina, one begins to wonder what he can do to assist in the effort to soften the glare of UV rays and infuse the air with oxygen. After riding a bike to work for months, I decided that wasn't enough and acquired some new clients.

Working with Voices & Choices of the Central Carolinas and the Western North Carolina Alliance, I am beginning my effort, through design, to aid in the reconstruction of our environment.

With the recent "State of the Region Report 2004" Voices and Choices stunned Carolinians by revealing that we were paving land faster than any city on the east coast. So much, that region bordering Charlotte is taking a lot up to build the longest Greenway system in the United States. Stafford.Tisdale worked with Georgia Dunn, Development Director, in developing marketing materials and Illustrations for the Region Report.

The mountains of North Carolina have different, but equally concerning, issues to tackle. The Western North Carolina Alliance is approaching these issues one "Action Alert" at a time. This grassroots environmental organization aims to protect and to preserve our natural land, water and air resources through education and public participation in policy decisions at all levels of business and government. WNCA launches "Action Alerts" into the community to spread awareness of environmental threats and thrives on the reponses of the the public to reverse potentially detrimental decisions. Stafford.Tisdale is launching the new wnca.org to fuel, or "charge" rather, their efforts. "I am confident that the new site will extend our reach and further encourage involvement with the Alliance" said Jody Flemming, Executive Director of WNCA. "Working with Stafford.Tisdale has opened doors to capabilities that we thought were beyond our reach. The digital branding and strategy has helped us target prospective members while acquiring new ones with a steady pace."
